Wiesmann GT by Revell from £26.99

In 2003 at the IAA in Frankfurt the Dülmen manufacturers Wiesmann exhibited their new product, the prototype GT. Production of the slightly modified Wiesmann Grand Touring began in the summer of 2005. The coupé acknowledges its kinship with the Wiesmann roadster. But this hard-top two-seater, due to its increased length, width and height, obviously looks more hefty. To match the substantial bodywork the GT has generous 20-inch wheels. With this sporty coupé, with its unmistakable elegant and forceful design, the Wiesmann company based in Dülmen has excelled itself. Under the composite bonnet there is an almost completely new car with a powerful BMW V8 engine, aluminium chassis and more powerful brakes. As soon as one climbs in and sinks deep into the luxurious leather seats of this fascinating GT one is overcome by the desire to press the starter and feel the power of 367 bhp beneath one. This power is delivered by the present 4.8 litre eight-cylinder from BMW that takes it to a maximum speed of 290 km/h. The appearance and performance alone of this coupé are sufficient to promise an exquisite driving experience. Immediately on acceleration from 0 to 100, which only takes 4.6 seconds and pushes the driver back into his seat, it is apparent what this technically modern and exquisite piece of nostalgia stands for: the pure joy of driving.
