Gromit, old pal, I'll...need assistance in choosing between all of these lovely items…! This very famous duo, Wallace and Gromit, are the main animated characters from Nick Park’s hilarious films. The creator uses a technique called claymation which is basically animation for film using clay figures. Nick’s first film success came with A Grand Day Out, which was started during his studies at National Film and TV School. This was completed in 1989 and won a Bafta award when he joined forces with Aardman Animations. During this time he also created Creature Comforts, later to be used in TV advertisements, which won him an Oscar. Two more Wallace and Gromit films followed thereafter with The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave. By this time the two main characters had become national treasures. Wallace the crazy, absent minded inventor with broad Yorkshire accent and great love of cheese, and Gromit his pet dog and best friend, a faithful companion who, when not saving Wallace from his mad adventures, likes to sit down with a nice cup of tea and read of the paper. It seems really as if Gromit is the one in charge knowing a little more about everything than his owner. Join this mad pair with the Time for Tea and Take a Break Lad mugs which make crackin’ pressies – both showing a mug shot of Wallace with his massive toothy grin hugging Gromit (looking a little non plussed and maybe slightly confused as per usual). The Curse of the Were Rabbit was next in 2005 and was another feature length film rather than one of his shorts and again won an Oscar – ‘Brilliant teamwork lads’! A Matter of Loaf and Death was his latest production for television in 2007. This is where we first saw Piella’s dog Fluffles which you will see available as a Plush toy. Piella was Wallace’s love interest in this film, she lives off her previous success as the face of Bake-o-lite slimming bread but she is far from the starlet she once was and hides a hidden dark side, although not spotted by Wallace until Gromit rescues him from her evil hands. Fluffles is her very pretty, and ever so nervous, not so pampered pooch – with wild staring eyes demonstrating her shaky demeanor – a famous line from the film is ‘Now do as I say or Fluffles gets snuffled’. She struck up a romantic friendship with Gromit so it’s only right that you can get matching plush, bean toys and key ring versions of these characters. Buy them both and let them cuddle up together. |
