Somehow Shrek (‘fearsome one’) has managed to become a loveable, very popular character. This is in spite of him being an ogre, bright green, living in a swamp and shall, we say, rather lacking in manners!
His success has been greatly helped by the brilliant animation of the Shrek film series by Dreamworks – namely Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever. After which they became some of the most popular animated films of all time. Cleverly the film creators chose famous names to voice the personalities of the lead role and Mike Myers, not known for his politically correctness, was chosen for Shrek. He does so magnificently, giving him his famous Scottish twang. Another big personality plays Donkey – Shrek’s number one fan and sidekick. This is played by Eddie Murphy. It may be a bit much to call them best friends, though some how Donkey managed to befriend him and they have stuck together ever since – even though Donkey can be quite annoying, a bit too chirpy and extremely chatty and Shrek, well is Shrek. Both characters have found love in the form of Princess Fiona, played by Cameron Diaz, for Shrek who they rescued from Lord Farquaad’s clutches and a massive Dragon for the ass. Another key character is Puss in Boots played by Antonio Banderas. |
