Well from his name we don’t need to tell you what Roary is. He is a fast, fast single seater Formula 1 style race car in the brightest red who enjoys racing very much and is the star of the show. He wears a white baseball cap with a checker flag peak with a number 1 in a red star, has large eyes and a smiley face. He loves to say ‘light em up’ as he races around the tracks. He originated from an animated TV programme and the idea for the character came about when a man called David Jenkins spent 4 years working in management at the famous Brands Hatch racing circuit in the UK. From his experience there he has pulled in all of his knowledge about the pits, workshops and race track which is where most of the scenes in the television show are based and that’s why it seems so realistic. On the TV show he is voiced by Maria Darling which helps give his character a youthful, inexperienced feel. |

Roary the racing car is young and a bit green. He has a lot to learn and sometimes has to be careful as he is very energetic and raring to go and his cheekiness sometimes gets him into trouble leading him to make mistakes. Thankfully his friends are on hand to lend support and steer him in the right direction.
Roary’s race track is called Silver Hatch and this is where he lives. There he has many, many friends but none closer than Cici, Big Chris and FB. The mechanic of the bunch is Big Chris (voiced perfectly by Peter Kay the comedian, who also sings his theme song) who wears blue overalls and as well as fixing cars he loves to sing. He has a catchphrase – ‘you bend em, you mend em’ which basically means don’t crash the car otherwise you will end up clearing up the mess. Next there is Cici who is bright pink with a big number 3 emblazoned in purple across her front and sides – she reminds us a bit of the original love bug car – very cute. She is a stunt car and her catch phrase is Race you! FB, or Flat Bed to give him his full name, is pale green and the only thing he is interested in is playing with Roary and Cici. There are many, many other characters including other race cars Maxi, Drifter, Tin Top and Conrod. Plugger is the recovery vehicle aiding Chris rescue cars. All of these push along vehicles are available here as well as other characters Nick the police car, and Hellie the helicopter, some of which talk the catch phrases as well as emitting other racing sounds. Load them all up for a journey with the race day truck called Loada, a transporter used for delivery of cars all over the world and race the cars with your friends with the die cast launchers.
