The Pirates of the Caribbean series of films is a fantasy adventure that follows the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, a pirate that uses tricks and deceit to get what he wants. The first three movies, The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Dead Man’s Chest (2006) and At World’s End (2007) has introduced us to the most lovable and comedic pirate on the high seas. After a mutiny on his ship, Captain Jack Sparrow was left stranded and alone. He arrives at Port Royal with the sole aim of commandeering another ship and is immediately arrested and sentenced to death. What is his crime? He is a pirate! Whilst imprisoned in the port, a bunch of pirates from his old ship, The Black Pearl, kidnap the governor's daughter, Elizabeth Swann. Feeling that the authorities are not willing to do enough to get her back, Elizabeth’s friend, Will Turner, breaks Jack out of the port jail when he agrees to help him. But Jack has more interest in taking back his ship than of rescuing the girl. The adventures continue throughout the three films seeing Jack regain and lose his beloved Black Pearl several times. Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides, released in May 2011 sees a whole new cast of characters joining Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally, the only actors to have starred in all four so far. |
