Ladybird began many years ago in a place called Loughborough in Leicester, ladybird books were designed to be good value and affordable. They produced their first book in 1940 ‘Bunnikins Picnic Party’ this was to be the first in the series of eight books. This series included wonderful colour illustrations, which proved to be very popular with the children and they were also written in verse.
Ladybird has since produced a wide variety of books including factual (teaching/learning/example) books, Fictional (stories/poems) books and first focus (nursery rhymes/baby) books. The first type of baby book they developed was in 1993 called first focus, this won a Gold award for under 2s!
As you can see below we have a wide range of their books with a selection of the classical tales of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’ plus many more. While we also have a range of the baby books such as ‘The Wheels On The Bus’ etc.
