Golden Compass- His Dark Materials |
The Golden Compass is a forthcoming film adaptation based on the novel 'Northern Lights" written by Philip Pullman. It's the first of the books of a trilogy called 'His Dark Materials'. It tells the story of a young girl called Lyra Belacqua (also known as Lyra Silvertongue), who goes to the Jordan College in Oxford and her adventure to the far north to search for a friend and other children who are in trouble.
The film is set in a parallel universe where everyone is followed by a daemon, which is a representation of themselves in the form of an animal. The other two books, 'The Amber Spyglass' and 'the Subtle Knife' are due to be made into films following any success the Golden Compass gets to complete the trilogy of this fantasy epic.
