Barney is a big and lovable purple and green dinosaur and is the star of his very own television show. He is a Tyrannosaurus Rex, created in 1987, who helps young children to learn through song and dance, fun and laughter and of course, magic! Interestingly he was originally meant to have been a bear. Sheryl Leach of Dallas, Texas created him in an attempt to keep her son entertained during long car journeys but he was changed after the creator’s son when to a dinosaur exhibition.
A new character, Baby Bop, joined Barney in 1991. She is a green and pink Triceratops who wears a pink bow and ballet slippers. She is just three years old and is very kind and polite. She can often be seen carrying a yellow security blanket. In 1993, we met B.J. He is Baby Bop’s older brother and a seven year old yellow and green Protoceratops. He wears a red baseball cap and red and white trainers. He likes to play games but unfortunately he always seems to be losing things. Their cousin, Riff, is six years old and is an orange and yellow Hadrosaur with green trainers. |
