Fairey Gannet AS4 by Revell from £8.99
Revell Aircrafts - Fairey Gannet AS4 - The first Gannet took to the air back in September 1949. The Royal Navy was, however, unable to decide on the number of crew and the positioning of the search radar, causing a delay in the programme. The aircraft first entered service in 1955. This huge machine with its massive internal weapons bay was fitted with two Mamba turboprop engines arranged such that each drives one of the two contra-rotating propellers. This design allowed the aircraft to carry out fuel-saving patrol sorties on just one engine. A distinctive feature is the large radome mounted beneath the fuselage.
