Revell Military Vehicles - Raupenschlepper Ost(RSO) & Pak 40 - The RSO (Raupenschlepper Ost = caterpillar tractor east) was specially developed by the Steyr company between 1941 and 1942 for use by the German army as a tractor and transport vehicle on the Eastern Front. In order to increase production capacity, orders were placed with other firms, but instead of the standard metal driver's cab these had a simplified wooden cab (type RSO/03). By March 1945 therefore 27,663 vehicles had been issued to the troops. In addition to Russia, the RSO was used by mobile anti-tank units as a tractor for the 7.5 cm Pak 40 to defend against the threatening Allied invasion in northern France. The 7.5 cm Pak 40 developed by Rheinmetall-Borsig in 1939 was in fact a further development of the 5 cm Pak 38 which took over some of its essential elements such as the splayed gun mount, the double walled protective shield and the muzzle brake. The 7.5 cm Pak 40 was the standard anti-tank cannon used by the German army on all fronts.Colors: 8 68 84 88 91 362
