Mercedes 300 SE Argentina '64

In 1961 the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE was launched as the top-of-the-range model in the so-called "tail-fin" family. The car sparkled with a wealth of technical features, including power steering and pneumatic suspension. After the works withdrew Mercedes from the Formula 1 and Sports Car championships, private drivers continued to compete in motor sport in this type W 112. In particular Eugen Böhringer, born in 1922, one of the most successful rally and touring car drivers of the sixties, had some brilliant results with his 215 bhp 300 SE. In 1964 he repeated the win of the previous year and, with his co-driver Klaus Kaiser, with supreme mastery, he took the overall title in the hardest road race in the world, the International Touring Grand Prix of Argentina, over more than 4600 km.
