1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 by Corgi from £23.99

McRae's first RAC rally in a truly competitive four-wheel drive car, the Sapphire Cosworth modelled here, provided great drama but finally produced a fine sixth place. McRae clipped a gatepost in Chatsworth, which bent the doors and suspension, and this was followed by an incident in Yorkshire which saw the mechanics 'borrowing' the sliding bolt from a farm gate in order to keep one of the doors shut. The head gasket then blew and was changed by the mechanics from RED in double quick time. McRae and Ringer then repaid the mechanic's effort by putting in a series of top three stage times to claim a well deserved sixth.
