Foot HealthRelated services- Foot Healthcare Professionals Sally Anne is a registered member of the British Association of Foot Health Professionals. The main goal of a Foot Health Professional is to keep peoples’ feet in healthy condition, to advise on day to day care and to ensure that their feet keep well as they get older. As people are living longer it is even more important to keep feet healthier for longer. Many conditions can be treated by such a professional including corns, calluses, warts, verrucas and fungal infections – as well as services which include the trimming of nails so to prevent any nail problems arising in the first place. Their training programme is rigorous and includes human structure and function, foot disorders, microbiology and pharmacology, surgery, material medica, dermatological conditions, nail conditions, patient care and examination, interaction with other healthcare professionals and handling/sterilization of instruments. Practically members of this professional body are required to undertake a large number of clinical hours and have experience in scalpel, padding, and surgical implement use, as well as diagnosis of foot problems, diabetes, neuropathies, skin allergies, septic conditions, nail disorders and septic conditions to name but a few. The Association of Foot Health Professionals is the professional body of The Open College of Foot Health Professionals. Membership of this body gives them associate membership of the British Chiropody and Podiatry Association. |
