Description:Sugar Bowl & Ladle with a Small Fruit Plate Height 5 3/4" (14.5cm) The Sugar Bowl & Ladle is based on the original dated late 18th Century, earthenware, glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze.
The Sugar Bowl & Ladle is circular on a high spreading foot the lower part of the body is fluted with a turned ribbed border at the rim, the domed lid has panels of pierced openwork with a ribbed border at the rim it has a flower knob with leaf and bud terminals. The ladle has a pierced bowl for sifting and a curved handle.
The Small Fruit Plate a raised plate with a pattern of openwork to outer rim with a ribbed border.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware.
