The Strawberry Basket is based on the original dated late 18th Century, earthenware, glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze.
The Strawberry Basket is oval, with flared sides the lower parts are ribbed the upper is pierced with panels of openwork the handles are as of cord loop with flower and leaf terminals.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware.
