Spode Tower Blue - Gadroon - Tower pattern was derived from the printed illustration in Merigot's 'Views of Rome and its Vicinity' published in about 1796. Tower depicts the Bridge of Salaro near Porta Salara, Rome. The bridge which originally had a keep built on top of it survives today although it is now unfortunately underneath the main route leading out of Rome to the airport.
