The Pierced Lattice Basket is based on the original Hartley Greens pattern book, earthenware, and glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze. The Pierced Lattice Basket is oval moulded with pierced openwork to form a basketwork effect, the lid has a knob in the form of a fruit with leaf terminals.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware.
