The Pierced Candlestick is based on the original Hartley Greens pattern book, earthenware, and glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze. The Pierced Candlestick has a four-sided base with a round neck the four-sided base is pierced on each side with a pattern of openwork.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool.
