Open Work Oil & Vinegar

The Openwork Oil & Vinegar Set is formed from two joined pierced cylinders resting on six bun feet, the tall foliate handle terminating on a scroll ring. The bottles with protruding rims and projecting lips have twisted loop handles.

Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of diamond shaped basketwork styled holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool.

The Oil & Vinegar Set shape is based on the original dated late 18th Century piece.
