Leeds Pottery- No Stamp Act Teapot Description:Special Edition No Stamp Act Teapot . The Stamp Act of 1765 was a direct tax imposed by Parliament directly on the colonies of British America. The stamp act required that printed materials be produced on franked paper produced in London and carrying the revenue stamp. The documents requiring payment were legal documents, magazines and newspapers etc. The Stamp Act was bitterly opposed by the colonies and led to groups being formed to fight the tax
