Large Pierced Ribbon Plate Diameter 10 1/2" (27cm)
The Large Pierced Ribbon Plate is based on the original Hartley Greens pattern book, earthenware, glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze.
The Large Pierced Ribbon Plate is circular with a band of openwork to outer rim; this piercing is to allow for the intertwining of ribbon through the holes for further table embellishment.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware.
