The Large Pierced Plate is based on the original Hartley Greens pattern book, earthenware, glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze.
The Large Pierced Plate with a pattern of openwork to outer rim with a moulded bead border, the wall of the central recess is fluted.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware.
