Description:The Chestnut Bowl is an inverted bell shape with a scalloped rim and a pair of intertwined cord handles with flower and leaf terminals, the high domed lid has a ‘fir apple’ knob, the sides are and the lid are pierced with a complex openwork pattern. Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool and usually known as pierced ware. The Chestnut Bowl is just a magnificent piece on its own, when paired with the Chestnut plate it is truly breathtaking.
