The Oil & Vinegar Set is based on the original dated late 18th Century, earthenware, and glazed pale cream, this is commonly described as Creamware, Pearlware, Leedsware, China Glaze or even Salt Glaze. The Oil & Vinegar Set is formed from two joined pierced openwork cylinders resting on four bun feet, the tall foliate handle terminating in an eagle's head. The bottles with protruding rims and projecting lips have intertwined loop handles.
Openwork is the process where patterns are formed of oval diamond, heart shaped or other shaped holes, each of which is individually cut out with a simple metal tool.
