My name is John Thomas Stone. I was born in Hawkswell Lane, Castlegate, Malton and have lived and worked in Malton & Norton-on-Derwent all my life. I attended all 3 schools in Malton. I am married with two grown up children.I have been interested in the history of both towns and Old Malton village for many years. My history of the towns consists of photographs and documents and a large collection of pictures & post cards.
I have published 4 books and a reprint in a small size, their subjects are pictures and documentation of Malton, Norton-on-Derwent and Old Malton. I have produced the 1st town trail and also the new town trail and the revamped town trail.
I was a member of Malton & Norton operatic society and St Peter's players. Helped to run the boy's brigade. I have done voluntary work in the Malton roman museum for 2 years and i am a founder member of the Malton & Norton archaeological and historical society of which I am secretary. I am on the committee helping to create a green open space ( park ) for the town of Malton in the near future. I was a member of Norton-on-Derwent town council for 5 years and held the position of mayor in 2004/2006.
