8th. Aug. 1892 Mr. William Horsley resigned the postmastership of Norton, after holding the appointment many years.
27th. Aug. 1892 Mr. Geo. Brown, of Malton appointed postmaster of Norton. At the end of the following month Mr. Brown threw up the appointment, and he was succeeded by Mr. Richard Hornsey, to whose premises the Post Office was removed. Mr. W. Horsley appointed new Post-master for Norton on the 1st May 1896.

17th. March 1911 Man named Moiran convicted at Norton for cutting hair off horses' tails and selling it.
13th. October 1911 Dedication of nave and first stage of tower of St. Peter's Church, Norton, by the Archbishop (Dr. Lang) of York.
29th May 1912 Jack Brereton of Filey, makes attempt to fly from Filey to Leeds on a Blackburn Monoplane. He landed at Norton Parks, and ultimately abandoned flight.
25th July 1912 Whilst giving flying exhibitions at the Malton Cottage Hospital Fete, Mr. J. Brereton had a narrow escape from death, his monoplane falling and turning turtle in a corn field. Brereton was pinned underneath, and escaped with bruises, but the monoplane was smashed.
9th August 1913 In the early hours of this morning Messrs. Mennell & Son's saw mills were burnt down for the 2nd time – damage estimated at £1,500.
14th October 1913 A joint committee of the Malton & Norton Rural and Urban authorities resolved to purchase a Merryweather motor fire engine at a cost of £987. 1st August 1914 the cost was over £1,100 with accessories.
12th November 1913 Bishop of Beverley dedicates oak pulpit, organ screen, and stained window in South Chapel of St Peter's Church, Norton, to memory of Miss Harriet Caroline Hopkins.
25th January 1914 Part of Parliament Street subsided, and horse and cab had narrow escape of falling in.
8th March 1915 Whilst motoring up Settrington Road Dr. Bostock ran into a string of racehorse belonging to W. Cotcheifer, and two of them were knocked down.
11th January 1916 Dedication of organ screen at St Peter's Church, Norton, in memory of Col. Hopkins, son of Mr. W. R. Nines Hopkins, who was killed in France. Death of Mr. W. R. Innes Hopkins, of Leat House, aged 93 on the 21st December 1920.

Mrs. Monkman of Vine Grove, re- Al Jolson, the Jazz Singer which he sang Sonny Boy, she recalls, was shown at the Exchange Cinema, which she went to see. This was so called, because the building had been the Corn Exchange previously known locally as The Bughouse, she remembered the Majestic being built at Norton, advertised having the latest Western Electric Sound System. Patrons rapidly left Malton and went to Norton for the twice weekly entertainment but drifted back when Malton's Picture Hall was given a re-model and became the Palace, it had double seats in the back rows (the talk of the town).
Charles Wray - Butcher, Norton sold any cut of beef at 8/6d a stone, Bacon 4 1/2d a pound when buying a side at a time.
Bricks with T.B.N. (Tommy Brand) & J. Lyons. Hutton & North Cave Sand Co. Who had sand pits at Huttons Ambo & North Cave. Proprietor, Mr. McCormick lived at Middlesbrough and the office was above Fletcher's Butchers Shop – Circa 1920.
1943 Malton & Norton Urban Councils were commended on their programme which formed the Holiday-at-Home Week. The principal streets of Malton & Norton were decorated, and the profits will go to the Malton Hospital, Malton & Norton District Nursing Association, and Malton & Norton Youth Organisations. A children's fun fair, with roundabouts. Swings, and donkeys was held at Newgate, Malton and was at Norton Royal Oak Square until last Wednesday. On of the best attractions of the week was the Norton Red Cross Penny-a-Week Fund Gift Shop at Messrs. R Hornsey & sons, Commercial Street, Norton. The Gift Shop was formally opened last Saturday by the East Riding Director of the Red Cross, Mrs. De Yarburgh-Bateson. The Chairman (Mr. W Frankish) said that since the beginning of the year £400 had been raised by a variety of efforts. At least 40 men from Norton were prisoners of war, requiring a 10s parcel each week, a total of £20 a week. He said the response to the appeal for gifts was "staggering" and it was hoped to raise £200 at the shop in the coming week. (Extract from the Yorkshire Herald Saturday August 7th 1943)
Old Norton School opposite was Jefferson's Butchers. Mr. & Mrs. Jefferson always had time to have a word with the youngsters who passed their open door. Grandson Malcolm Laycock recalls his Granddad Jefferson taking him down to Scarborough Road Railway Bridge after dark so he could see the glow of Hull burning.
1967 A New Library, It would be built on the site of the former Boy's School in Commercial Street which had been empty since the County Secondary School opened in Langton Road in 1963.
