  • New Post Office opened in Wheelgate. (Later in the 1990's moved into part of the premises of the C.W.S. It then moved into the Market Square (the premises occupied by Cole's Cake Shop and Cuthill's Gents Outfitter )).

  • Corps of B.P. Scouts formed 26th April 1911.
  • Malton Grammar School opened 16th September 1911.

  • The first aeroplane to visit Malton May 29th 1912. Blackburn Mercury III 50 HP Isaacson engine built for Jack Breveton who tried to Fly Filey to Leeds, but was forced to land at Malton after a 6am take off from Filey.

  • 14th October 1913. Purchase of a new Merryweather fire Engine for £987. Aug 1914 it arrived now £1,100 and christened Maud Countess Fitzwilliam by the Earl.
    1940 Mr. Lott owner of Old Maltongate garage was temporary Brigade Superintendent at £3 per week (part time). Was taken on full time at £5 per week for 72 hours
  • King’s Head fire, 17th April 1913. Malton Market Place was a place of great excitement, a large crowd of people watched one of the worst fires in the town for a long time. The outbreak commenced between 6.30am and 7am in the rear of the Kings Head kept by Mr. Fred Scholfield. Flames appeared at the front of the building and swept across the intervening archway carrying the fire to adjoining premises of Mr. Foster’s Drapers Shop.

  • June 25th Marcus D Manton looped the loop at Malton.

  • County Bridge- The first footbridge extension, It did have some improved railings installed later in its life, but it was used for the first time on 9th December 1925.
  • New Hospital built in Middlecave Road.

1932
  • October 1932 a typhoid epidemic broke out and lasted for six weeks. One inmate of the poor house contracted typhoid and the disease got into the water supply by a broken drain pipe. 235 cases were notified and 24 deaths occurred. Including Dr George Colley Parkin aged 32, who had treated hundreds of people. He left a wife and a 2 year old son Jeremy.
