Malton and Norton History from 1700-1792 the 1700's sees Norton as one of the largest training centres for racehorses and the river Derwent becomes navigable for trade, along with the arrival of the Breweries. The Wentworth family take root following the purchase of the manor of Old & New Malton and they erect a workhouse. Latterly the Wentworth line ends and Earl Fitzwilliam succeeds to the Manor. ![]() Malton in the County of York |
