  • EUSTACE founded NEW MALTON when he returned in 1153. EUSTACE FITZ-JOHN’S New Malton, the borough filled the sloping land to the west of the old castle, with a wall running from the Town side of the Talbot, around the rear of the North Market Place Houses, behind Greengate to the Castle, it had gates. Called: - Castle, Old Malton, Green, and Appleton (Wheel), Yorkhouse. The New buildings outside of the Town Walls were called New Biggin (g).

  • Eustace lived to see Henry II – (1154 )-- WILLIAM his son and heir, who assumed the name of VESCI, confirmed to the Cannons of the Gilbertine Order of Malton, the Church of Malton and other gifts of Eustace, his father.
