VegEPA is a patented formulation containing a unique ratio of ultra-pure EPA from marine fish oil and GLA from organic virgin evening primrose oil, providing a highly concentrated source of omega-3 and omega-6 long-chain fatty acids. As such, VegEPA combines the benefits that both these natural substances bring to the body. Fatty acids play an important part in the functioning of every living cell in the body. Specifically they may help the body in several ways including: improving the circulatory system, aiding concentration, maintaining a balanced mood and keeping joints in good condition.
The EPA in VegEPA is derived from fish oil - the highest yielding source of long-chain omega-3 fats. This fatty acid forms a vital part of the diet as it enables the body to produce many substances that are necessary for health and well-being. EPA also plays a vital role in the structure, development and functioning of the brain. It can benefit sufferers of an array of mental and physical illnesses as well as lowering the risk of many potential health problems.
The EPO in VegEPA is derived from the cold-pressing of evening primrose seeds. When EPO is unprocessed and unrefined it is a rich source of botanical triterpenes - hormone-like substances which play an important role in immune function. EPO is renowned for oiling the joints and nourishing the skin, hair and nails. A rich source of the omega-6 GLA, the importance of EPO in relation to the structure of cell membranes and, consequently, effective cell signalling, cannot be over-emphasised.
The manufacturing process for VegEPA is of the highest standard. Using a molecular distillation process the EPA is extracted from fish oil - and hence ultra-purified - removing all unwanted substances and impurities including DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Whilst this omega-3 fatty acid is vital for health, EPA is converted naturally by the body into DHA so it is unnecessary to take DHA in supplement form. Furthermore, some studies have demonstrated that DHA in supplement form inhibits the beneficial effects of EPA. The highly purified oil is left "ultra-pure" and in a form that is most bio available to the body.
Nutritional: VegEPA contains ultra-pure EPA from marine fish oil and GLA from organic virgin evening primrose oil, providing a highly concentrated source of omega-3 & 6 long-chain fatty acids and botanical triterpenes. Suitable for specific ailments, this formulation may help to improve the cardiovascular system, stabilise mood and aid concentration and attention.
VegEPA should preferably be taken with food. It may take up to 3 months before the fatty acids in VegEPA reach the optimum levels in the body, for the full beneficial effects to become apparent. Results may be quicker with a healthy and balanced diet.
Directions: For an adult wishing to maintain overall health and well-being, it is advisable to take between 2 and 4 VegEPA capsules daily. Fore more serious ailments, it is advisable to take a higher dose initially to boost the levels of fatty acids in the blood, at a dose of 4 to 8 capsules daily, equivalent to 1 to 2 g of EPA and 400 to 800 mg of virgin EPO. Children under the age of 10 should take 1 capsule daily (unless recommended otherwise by a doctor).
Health Warnings: It is not advisable to exceed the above dose unless recommended by a doctor for a specific condition. If taking any medication, seek professional medical advice before starting to take VegEPA. Do not take VegEPA if you are already taking medication to thin the blood without prior medical advice (EPA has blood-thinning properties which ordinarily is a desirable effect for the circulatory system, but is not compatible with drugs such as warfarin or heparin injections). Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking any supplement. This product should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet. Contains fish.
For those who experience difficulty when trying to swallow capsules, the contents of VegEPA can be mixed in a drink or blended with a food such as yoghurt. For small children, the contents can be rubbed into the skin, such as the small of the back where it cannot be rubbed off easily.
