Solgar L-Theanine - L-Theanine is an amino acid found almost exclusively in green tea and is now growing in popularity as an alternative to the herb Kava Kava. Green tea is the second most popular drink in the world. Scientists now believe that both its taste and relaxing properties are attributable to its L-Theanine content.
L-Theanine appears to counteract the negative effects of caffeine, an action that explains why many people find green tea to be relaxing, despite its caffeine content.
L-Theanine easily crosses the blood-brain barrier and appears to increase levels of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, gamma amino butyric acid, as well as influencing serotonin and dopamine levels.
