B is a complex of several different vitamins and has many different forms. Starting at Vitamin B1 and ending at B15. Each different form has different secondary name and act differently which means Vitamin B has many different uses and benefits including maintaining healthy skin, enhance immune and nervous systems, bolster the metabolism and promote cell growth and division. Vitamin B1 is also called Thiamine and is known as the ‘morale’ vitamin for its affect on mental state and nerves. Vitamin B2 is also referred to as Riboflavin and is sometimes called vitamin G rather strangely. This one has an important role in metabolizing proteins, fats and carbohydrates and acts as an antioxidant. B3 is also known as niacin and comes in two forms nicotinic acid and nicotinamide and is needed for healthy growth and development. Beware high dose niacin may cause a temporary red flush to the skin though. B5 is also called pantothenic acid and is also found in Royal Gellee and is needed for energy metabolic reactions. Vitamin B6 is a group of water soluble substances that function together to convert into Pyridoxine which is an essential co-factor for over 60 enzymes. Vitamin B12 is commonly known as the red vitamin, or cobalamin and is the only vitamin to contain essential mineral elements such as cobalt and although water soluble this one can actually be stored in the liver unlike most other B vitamins and is needed to create new DNA, rather like Folic acid which is included here as it works in conjunction with B12. Lastly B15 (Pangamic Acid) works similar to Vitamin E as an antioxidant.

Most B vitamins are most effective when taken as a complex with others so on this shelf you will also find a number of mixed B formulas.

Vitamin D is often referred to as the Sunshine Vitamin which is an obvious reference to the fact that it is acquired through sunlight (or diet). Ultraviolet rays act upon the skin’s oils to produce it and it is needed to utilise calcium and phosphorus for strong bone and teeth. It is generally taken with Vitamin A as it aids with its assimilation. All of these vitamins are available to purchase from Body & Soul.
