Cranberry Juice Supplements
It is generally well known how rich in vitamins berries are, particularly vitamin C, however this berry has other uses too. Bladder or urethra inflammation is also called cystitis and can result from a cold or as a result of infection from certain bacteria such as staphylococcus, streptococcus or sometimes colibacillus. Symptoms can include pain or burning sensations on passing urine and a strong urge to pee also persists. Cranberry has beneficial anti-adhesin properties and its high acid content, along with proanthocyanidin content make it hard for these bacteria to survive and also stick to the urinary tract. Many people drink cranberry juice bought from their local store, however as these are generally laden with sugar to make them more palatable, you would be best either taking it as a food supplement in tablet (pills), capsule or powder form.
Cranberry is an evergreen shrub and they are found across the cooler parts of the Northern Hemisphere in acidic bogs. Cranberries have been traditionally used to help maintain a healthy bladder and urinary system. Also included here is D-Mannose which is a product also used for urinary tract infections and has a similar action to cranberry where its active ingredient doesn’t allow the bacteria to attach to the urinary lining. Try also Healthaid’s Cysticare which combines cranberry with vitamin C and other herbal extracts. Other well known brands such as Biocare and Solgar carry cranberry supplements.
