Dr Edward Bach trained in the early 1900’s as a medical student however he soon became a little more interested in the emotional feelings of the patients rather than the medical disorder they came in for treatment. He understood early on that it isn’t just the physical symptoms which need treating and often the physical signs were a manifestation of how the person felt inside the mind. Whilst carrying on in his medicine he came across homeopathy (see Nelson's range of Homeopathic remedies) and during his work at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital he made a new discovery which led him to produce a ‘remedy’ based on patient’s temperament only with no physical examination. From there on in her devoted his life to search for pure remedies based on nature and to cut a long story short this led him to find 38 flowers to cover the different states of mind. He then placed these into seven different groups: For Fear – Rock Rose, Mimulus, Cherry Plum, Aspen and Red Chestnut. For Uncertainty – Cerato, Scleranthus, Gentian, Gorse, Hornbeam and Wild Oat. For insufficient interest in present circumstances – Clematis, Honeysuckle, Wild Rose, Olive, White Chestnut, Mustard and Chestnut Bud. For loneliness – Water Violet, Impatiens and Heather. For those over-sensitive to influence and ideas – Agrimony, Centaury, Walnut and Holly. For despondency or despair – Larch, Pine, Elm, Sweet Chestnut, Star of Bethlehem, Willow, Oak and Crab Apple. Finally for over-care for welfare of others – Chicory, Vervain, Vine, Beech and Rock Water. Each individual remedy is explained by the emotion or personality trait and further information can be found on each product page. Each of the flower remedies found below is to help a specific emotional state or characteristic. From fears to guilt and from lack of confidence or self-centred, there is a flower essence that can help.
