What are Livercare® tablets for?
The liver is the second largest organ (after the skin) and the largest gland within the human body. It performs numerous functions, the major one being the processing of nutrients and by-products of food digestion. More specifically, it is involved in the production of bile used to breakdown fats and metabolize food and alcohol, and also in the removal of toxins from the body. The liver is the main detoxifying organ responsible for ‘clearing up’ all the mess and abuse -such as alcohol abuse, extremely stressful lifestyle, regular consumption of ready prepared food etc- that we give our body from time to time.

The ability to detoxify these harmful chemicals is a major factor in determining good health. When the detoxification system becomes overloaded, toxins accumulate, and we become progressively more sluggish and vulnerable. Milk thistle is one of the most extensively studied herbs today that helps to enhance and strengthen the liver by preventing the depletion of one of the essential compounds in the detoxifying process (glutathione). It is also a powerful antioxidant and it acts directly on the wall of the liver by stimulating the regeneration of new healthy liver cells that replace the old and damaged ones. Dandelion is a plant that increases the production and flow of bile (a digestive aid) and acts as a natural diuretic, therefore helping the digestive system, the liver and the kidneys to remove the inflammation and accumulation of toxic waste. Turmeric and Artichoke are powerful antioxidants that help to reduce inflammation further and help prevent cell damage in the liver. Barberry promotes the flow of bile, protects the urinary tract and helps reduce the build up of toxins in the liver.
