FOS Fructo-oligosaccharides prebiotic nourishment for digestive flora and colon health
FOS helps support a healthy digestive system by nourishing the beneficial bacteria, and discouraging undesirable gut inhabitants. FOS can also be taken along with probiotic bacteria.
Suggested uses: To nourish healthy digestive flora, to keep waste matter soft and moist for easy bowel function, can also be used as a healthy alternative to sugar and sweeteners.
FOS is a natural sugar polymer which can be used as a prebiotic to feed the bacterial flora, encouraging intestinal health. Although it is has a naturally sweet taste, FOS cannot be utilised by the body to make fat or for energy.
One level teaspoon typically provides: Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) 3 grams No added: salt, starch, soya, wheat, gluten, maize, corn, yeast, lactose, dairy products, artificial preservatives, colours or flavourings. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. GM Free.
Sprinkle 2-3 level teaspoons onto cereal or fruit, or stir into juice (children over 5 years, 1 level teaspoon). Added benefit may be obtained by taking probiotic bacteria such as Lactogest or Acidobifidus for 2-3 days before starting FOS. Can also be used to sweeten hot drinks and baking.
