This is a combination nutritional supplement containing the antioxidant related substances vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium and zinc, together with the essential fatty acids gamma linolenic acid and eicosapentenoic acid and dodecahexanoic acid. This supplement is formulated for athletes and active people, to help protect muscle tissues from exercise induced stress. Individuals undergoing strenuous physical exercise, as a result of increased oxygen consumption, produce increased levels of damaging free radicals, particularly in the skeletal muscle tissues. These free radicals interfere with the ability of muscle to contract, contributing to muscle fatigue, as well as damaging the muscle tissues itself.
In addition, strenuous and repetitive movements activate an inflammatory response, which can also result in oxidative damage to muscle tissues induced by free radicals; these are released by infiltrating inflammatory cells attached to the site of injury. The various antioxidant related substances incorporated into this supplement counter the damaging effects of exercise-induced free radical production. In addition, the omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids present in this supplement are precursors of beneficial eicosanoids, which have a modulating effect on inflammation.
Nutritional: Each tablet in Bio-Sport contains 750microgm vitamin A, 1.6mg Vitamin B6, 90mg Vitamin C, 15mg Vitamin E, 100microgm selenium and 15mg zinc. Each capsule comprises 670mg GLA, 260mg DHA and 372mg EPA.
Directions: The recommended intake by Pharma Nord requires taking eight capsules and one tablet daily, for one month. If a programme of preventative maintenance is required, the recommended intake is four capsules and one tablet per day.
