Coenzyme Q10 (also known as Ubiquinone and Ubidecarenone) is a vitamin-like substance which plays a vital role in the body’s energy supply mechanism, acting alongside enzymes converting sugars and fats into energy. Coenzyme Q10 is stored in the mitochondria (power house) of every cell and is responsible for the production of energy. Coenzyme quinones occur in several chemical forms, with Q10 being the only form found in human tissues. Bio-Quinone Q10 may also help maintain healthy teeth and gums. Natural Q10 levels decrease with age, and are also depleted by intense physical exercise or illness. In addition, coenzyme Q10 levels are also depleted in patients taking statin drugs, which are now available without prescription.
