This is a dietary supplement containing a high content of gamma linolenic acid, an Omega 6 essential fatty acid vital for good health. Bio-Glandin 25 may help to maintain a healthy immune system and optimal inflammatory response. GLA also promotes normal menstruation. Many food sources do not contain significant amounts of GLA; although some GLA can be manufactured within the body, this process can be inhibited by many factors, including diet high in saturated fat, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, smoking and drinking alcohol, and certain types of medication. GLA is converted by the body into hormone like compounds called protoglandins, which regulate many important processes within the body. Protoglandins occur in several different forms, which may be pro- or anti-inflammatory protoglandins, thereby helping to maintain a normal response of the immune system to inflammatory challenge.
Nutritional: Each capsule contains 500mg of borage seed oil, equivalent to 474mg of fatty acids, of which 118mg is GLA. Until recently GLA supplements were produced from evening primrose oil, but borage oil has now been shown to contain 2-3 times the level of GLA.
