Bio-Culture is a dietary supplement containing ‘friendly’ bacteria known as probiotics, which help to maintain a healthy digestive system. The best studied probiotics are the lactic acid bacterial strains Lactobacillus acidophilus (found mainly in the small intestine) and Bifidobacterium lactis (found mainly in the large intestine). Many products fail to reach the intestines because they are destroyed by the acid environment of the stomach. The bacteria in Bio-Culture are encapsulated within a stomach resistant gel matrix. The capsule is dissolved by acid in the stomach, but the bacteria remain protected by the gel, which in turn dissolves in the intestine to release the bacteria for maximum benefit. Bacteria are freeze dried and packed into a hermetically-sealed aluminium tube, which keeps them fresh and prolongs the shelf life once opened.
Supplementation with Bio-Culture increases the number of ‘friendly’ bacteria, which then compete with ‘bad’ bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract for nutrients, space and oxygen which are necessary for survival. These friendly bacteria also produce chemical substances that inhibit the growth of bad bacteria. The probiotics in Bio-Culture may therefore help to maintain a healthy digestive system. Bio-Culture may also help to maintain optimal immune system function, as approximately 70% of your immune system is found in your gut. Your immune system needs to be functioning well to prevent and fight infection, prevent allergies and autoimmune diseases and inhibit bacterial enzymes involved in the formation of some carcinogens. Directions: 1 capsule, 3 times daily. For best results swallow the capsules whole with water. Alternatively the capsule content can be emptied out and taken with food.
Health Warnings: Usually well-tolerated. This product is free from gluten, MSG and lactose, though the cultures in this product may contain residues of milk protein and are not milk-free. This product is therefore suitable for people with lactose intolerance, but it is not recommended for people who are allergic to milk proteins. Pregnant or lactating women and those on medication should consult a doctor before taking nutritional supplements. Discontinue use if adverse reactions occur.
