Made from fresh herb tincture of Horse Chestnut. Also known as Aesculus hippocastanum and the extracts come from the deciduous tree. The main active ingredients are triterpene saponins or escin (aescin). Aesculus has been used for venous conditions since the end of the 19th century. The origin of the family name Aesculus is unclear. The species name, hippocastanum, literally means horse chestnut. This term probably arose from the early use of the seed to treat coughing and broken wind in horses, distinguishing it from the chestnuts eaten by humans. Ingredients: One tablet contains approximately 1,600mg of freshly harvested herb, equivalent to 1000mg of dried herb and provides 50mg of Aescin in addition to other active constituents. Excipients contain Maize starch.
